UNDERSTANDING WIND ENERGY

Wind energy in India. Start with your project.

Wind energy, wind power and wind electricity are related search terms, but a useful project discussion becomes more specific. What site is available, what needs power, and how will the proposed turbine connect to the rest of the energy system?

From moving air to electrical power

Wind turbines use moving air to turn a rotor and drive a generator. A project intended to serve loads at or near the place of generation is commonly discussed as distributed wind. This is a different starting point from simply choosing the appearance or rated size of a turbine.

The AS VAYU presentation focuses on distributed applications including remote offices, schools, health posts, public lighting and industrial or institutional support loads. It outlines off-grid, shared-battery hybrid and grid-connected system concepts.

India-wide wind maps are a starting point

The National Institute of Wind Energy publishes wind-resource maps for preliminary assessment. A map’s reference height matters: regional data at a tall utility-scale hub height does not by itself establish the wind conditions at a proposed small-turbine installation.

Begin with the project coordinates and proposed turbine position, then identify what further site information is needed. Nearby structures, available clearance, access and civil feasibility belong in the assessment. Do not treat a state name or a general weather impression as a generation estimate.

A catalogue spanning different project scales

Anuj Solaris LLP is based in Surat, Gujarat. Its AS VAYU collection includes 45 models from 50W to 100kW across F-Type, H-Type, NY-Type, X-Type and Y-Type families. The website presents model-level ratings rather than a single general wind-power promise.

F-Type covers horizontal-axis turbines from 500W to 5kW. The H-Type vertical range extends from 100W to 100kW. NY-Type, X-Type and Y-Type add compact vertical options. Use the catalogue to identify candidate models, then evaluate their fit with the project requirements.

Move from interest to a defined scope

The company presentation describes a sequence of wind and site review, load and backup study, technical design, and approvals with execution planning. Each step resolves a different question. A turbine shortlist should not replace the electrical or structural design.

For your first conversation, describe the location, critical loads, daily usage, desired backup period and existing equipment. Ask which assumptions are confirmed, which require measurement or engineering, and what the next decision will be. Applicable permissions and utility arrangements must be checked for the actual project.

  • Define the energy objective and the proposed application.
  • Review the wind resource at the relevant location and height.
  • Compare exact models and complete system configurations.
  • Agree the engineering, execution and maintenance scope.

Compare model-level data before shortlisting a turbine. Rated output is a specification, with generation dependent on your site and system.

Common questions

Does a windy city guarantee a good small wind project?+

No. The proposed turbine location and height, local obstructions, model characteristics and load requirements still need assessment. Regional wind information is useful for screening, not a guarantee.
